EC5 and its subsequent national standardisation have been introduced to the industry with the intention to simplify the coordination within Europe, to optimize the utilisation of materials and to provide a means of quality management in the building industry. The DC-Calcs project has been initiated and sponsored by the European Federation Of Timber Construction (EFTC) and its supporting associations. The engineering office of Prof. Dr. F. Colling has carried out the technical implementation in cooperation with the software company Dietrich’s. Prof. Dr. Colling is the Head of the Timber Engineering Department at the University of Applied Sciences Augsburg. Dietrich’s provides software solutions for the wood construction industry since 1982.
